To register an account with eBooks by Sainsbury's and become a member of our book-loving community, simply click on the Register tab at the top of the home page and enter your details.
You will be asked for your email address, name and a password.
Your password should be at least 8 characters and should be a mixture of letters and numbers.
Try not to be too obvious in your choice of password and do not share it with anyone else.
Once you have agreed to the Terms and Conditions, you’re done. Welcome to eBooks by Sainsbury’s.
Having registered, you can return to the site at any time and log-in using your email address and password. You’ll use the same email address and password to log into our reader apps.
If you’d like to create a public profile showing your friends what you’ve been reading, you’ll be given this option next. You can change your profile from public to private at any time by visiting your settings.
Once you have registered, you will enter the site and a Profile link will appear in the page header. If you click on this link you can view your Profile page.
This is where all of your key information about your use of the site is displayed.
You can change your profile picture by clicking on the Edit Bar under your current default picture.
You then have the option to select an alternative picture from our gallery or use your Facebook profile picture or link to an image you’ve saved on Gravatar.
Your profile on eBooks by Sainsbury's and your collections of books can be made private so that nobody else can see them. While private, you will not be able to create new collections, add books to existing collections, write reviews or vote on collections or reviews. You can make this change through your settings page.
Great news – eBooks by Sainsbury's has partnered with Nectar to make discovering your next read even more rewarding. If you’re not familiar with Nectar, it is the UK’s largest loyalty programme and it’s free to join - over 19 million people already have a card.
To begin collecting Nectar points with eBooks by Sainsbury's you must have a Nectar card. If you don’t already have one, you can apply for a Nectar card online at nectar.com. Then simply register your Nectar card on eBooks by Sainsbury's by recording your Nectar card number in the settings section of your profile on the website.
Nectar points are awarded at 2 points per full £1 spent on eligible items on the site. Therefore, if your item costs £4.99 and the eBook is eligible for collecting Nectar points, you will be awarded 8 points.
Nectar points are calculated according to the actual amount spent in a single transaction.
If vouchers or any other discounts are applicable, the points will be calculated after the discount is applied.
We’ll also be running Nectar point promotions on nominated items and activities. These promotions will be communicated through eBooks by Sainsbury's at the time of the promotion.
Sign up to receive our emails so you don’t miss out on any forthcoming offers – just go to Settings on your Profile page and tick the box to receive updates and book recommendations by email.
Unfortunately you will not collect Nectar Points on any transactions made before you registered your Nectar card number with eBooks by Sainsbury's.
Will I collect Nectar points on everything I purchase on eBooks by Sainsbury's?
Points can only be collected on eligible items. You will not collect Nectar points on:
- Single transactions of 0.99p or less.
- Titles from publishers that do not support the collecting of Nectar Points. These titles will be marked as not eligible for Nectar points.
How can I get a Nectar card?
You can apply for a Nectar card online at nectar.com. All you need to do is spend a few minutes completing the registration form and a card will be posted out to you within 10 days. Alternatively you can pick up a registration pack in any Sainsbury’s store.
How do I register my Nectar card on eBooks by Sainsbury's?
Record your Nectar card number in the Settings section of your profile on the website.
How many Nectar points can I collect on eBooks by Sainsbury's?

There are a number of ways for you to discover new books on our site.
In the header panel at the top of our home page you will see an ‘Explore’ tab. If you click on this it will reveal a drop-down menu showing a number of our book collections. These include Biography, Crime Fiction and Romance. If you are looking for a book from a particular genre then this is a simple way of searching our collections.
If you click on ‘All collections’, you will see collections of books chosen not only by us, but also by fellow book lovers. In the display you will see how many books are included in the collection and how many followers it has.
Alternatively, you can click on one of the featured collections shown on the home page to be taken straight to that collection.
Alongside the ‘Explore’ tab, you will see a ‘Search Box’. If you know the title of the book you are looking for, or you are searching for books by a particular author or a book collection, simply type in what you are looking for and press enter and your search results will be displayed.
Once you have found the book of your choice, you can read a description of the book as well as Reader Reviews. You can now buy your eBook.
Having selected your eBook, you can now buy it.
On its Review Page, under the title and price is an orange button saying ‘Buy eBook’. Click on this to buy your book.
Your eBook will then appear in your Basket. Your Order Total will be displayed and you will be given the option to ‘Checkout’ or ‘Continue shopping’.
To ‘Continue shopping’ simply click the button or to pay for your ebook, click ‘Checkout’.
The next screen will allow you to review your order and enter your payment details. We accept payment by Mastercard or Visa. Enter your card details in the boxes provided and click the orange ‘Pay and place your order’ button.
Having completed your bank’s security check your transaction will be complete.
You can now choose which device you wish to read your eBook on.

As well as being a great place to find and buy new books, eBooks by Sainsbury's also has a community of book lovers who add to our user experience.
Everyone who registers can not only use the site to find ebooks but also share their views and recommendations with other book lovers. This means that you don’t have to take ‘The Editor’s’ word for how good a particular eBook is, you can read what other community members thought of it.
You too can add your views, set up your own collections and use the community to help you find your next book through recommendation.
Every eBook has a number of followers. These are members of our community that have commented on that eBook either as wanting to read it in the future, are currently reading it, or have read it in the past.
This information is displayed in a panel below the picture of the eBook on its main page.
You can click on the ‘See all’ button to display all Followers of that particular eBook.
This shows the list of who they are, the number of collections they are following and the number of community members that are following them.
This social network of book lovers is what really sets us apart from other online book stores. By getting to know the views of other book lovers about a particular title you will see what other books they liked to help you discover new eBooks for yourself.
You can create an account and login using your Facebook details. You can also use your Facebook profile picture and find or invite your Facebook friends to connect with you on eBooks by Sainsbury's. We won’t post anything to your wall or to your friends unless you ask us to.
You can also share your views and recommendations via Facebook, Twitter, G+ and Pinterest by clicking on the links that appear throughout our site.
Once you have bought your eBook title, you have the choice of which device to read it on. For the best experience we recommend reading our eBooks using our apps for iPhones or iPads, Android phones or tablets. Alternatively, you can read using your computer, (PC or Mac) or Sony, Kobo or other ereaders. Unfortunately Amazon Kindle ereader devices don’t support eBooks bought from eBooks by Sainsbury's or any other retailer.
To read your eBook on your tablet or smartphone you will need to download our free ‘Reader App’. This can be done by simply visiting the App store on your device and searching for eBooks by Sainsbury's.
Follow the instructions to download it to your device and you’re ready to go.
Once installed, you can open the Reader App on your device, login using your email address and password, and your eBooks will appear in your library.
You will need to be connected to the internet to download the eBook to your device when opening for the first time but once this is complete you will be free to enjoy your new read online or offline.
To open your eBook simply select it and it will load.
The navigation bar at the top will allow you to adjust your viewing preferences and the scroll bar at the bottom allows you to skip forward and back through the book to your desired place.
To read your eBook on your PC or Mac you will first need to download an ACSM file of your eBook from your orders page. You will need Adobe Digital Editions software to open this file. This can be downloaded by clicking on the link shown.
To read your eBook on an ereader device you will first need to download an ACSM file of your eBook from your orders page. You will need Adobe Digital Editions software to open this file. This can be downloaded by clicking on the link shown. You will then be able to plug in your ereader and synchronise your files.
